Job Title: Marketing manager
Salary: $30,000 - $40,000

The American Samoa Visitors Bureau is seeking a dynamic and experienced Marketing Manager to drive the promotion and growth of tourism in American Samoa. As the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing marketing plans and strategies to attract visitors, enhance American Samoa’s brand image, and increase economic impact of tourism in American Samoa. This role requires a passion for tourism, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans:

a. Identify target markets and develop strategies to reach them effectively.

b. Conduct market research to understand traveler preferences, trends, and competition.

c. Create marketing campaigns, both online and offline, to promote American Samoa’s attractions, accommodations, activities, and unique experiences.

2. Brand management and positioning:

a. Develop and maintain a strong brand identity for American Samoa, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials and platforms.

b. Create compelling messaging and content that highlights the island’s unique selling points.

c. Collaborate with local businesses, travel agents, and tour operators to align their marketing efforts with the American Samoa Visitors Bureau.

3. Digital marketing and online presence:

a. Manage the organization’s website and social media channels, ensuring they are up-to-date, engaging, and optimized for search engines.

b. Implement digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, paid advertising, and content marketing, to drive website traffic and conversions.

c. Monitor online reviews and feedback, responding promptly and appropriately to maintain a positive online reputation.

4. Partnership development:

a. Foster relationships with local businesses, hospitality providers, and tourism stakeholders to collaborate on joint marketing initiatives.

b. Seek opportunities for partnerships with airlines, travel agencies, media outlets, and online platforms to expand the island’s reach and attract new visitors.

c. Represent the island at tourism industry events, trade shows, and conferences to establish and strengthen strategic partnerships.

d. Seek opportunities to secure grant funding of projects to propel marketing plans and strategies approved by the ASVB Executive Director.

5. Performance tracking and reporting

a. Set measurable marketing objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).

b. Monitor and analyze campaign performance, website analytics, and visitor data to

assess the effectiveness of marketing efforts.

c. Prepare regular reports on marketing activities, outcomes, and recommendations

for continuous improvement.

6. Various duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field.

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in marketing, preferably in the tourism industry.

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels, tools, and analytics.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create

  • compelling content and deliver impactful presentations in both English and Samoan languages is advantageous.

  • Proficiency in social media management, content management systems, and email marketing platforms.

  • Creative thinking and ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of the island’s tourism industry and understanding of its unique characteristics would be advantageous.
